Well I can tell you right now, it's not far off. I have been meaning to stop and have a look see
for some time now, and made the effort around lunchtime today. It's a pity the weather wasn't a
little better, howver, I found the chief site engineer and he was a great guy and super helpful in
supplying all the technical details. He said that he expects to open the overpass from Chotana to the Mae Rim
Road in about two weeks time, and took me over it pointing out things of interest.
He then introduced me to his boss, the project manager, who was all of five two with his hands
in the air, and a very funny person. He explained that Mr. Thaksin was too busy playing football
to finish it so the government had to step in and help.
He estimated completion of the underpass around the end of November, and was pushing to open it
on HM the king's birthday. They are in the process of clearing and re inforcing for the last few
pours of concrete under the actual bridge. Also in process is the building of the pump station,
which is the large hole in one of the walls that you can see.
All in all he was very pleased with what they had done in the last few months, and is looking
forward to the opening, as I'm sure we all are!!
